WHAT IS THE VIRTUAL OFFICE?

The word virtual is thrown around so much in computing that it can be just plain annoying. Throwing technical jargon around only makes something that is good seems bad. We then have to peel the layers off to find out what something is and how it can benefit you. At 3Connected we believe strongly in the concept of the virtual office. However it is important to note that the concept of the virtual office could mean many things to many people.

What makes the virtual office virtual?

The virtual office in itself is beautiful because of its simplicity. At its core what this means is that you take all the functions of your office, telephone, internet, messaging, paper, and all things related to your technical environment and you transcend them to the level of your home. To what level you decide to implement this is strictly based on your preference. Perhaps you just want to have yourself or your employees only working from home on Friday, or you may want to have a core set of employees working completely from home due to distance. All of this can be configured to what fits your business. Do not let the common stereotypes of the virtual office deter you from wanting to explore it. The most two popular ones are that your employees will spend their time watching soap operas instead of working and the whole concept is too expensive. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Stereotypes be dammed, continue reading to find out why.

Why the virtual office can work for you?

The virtual office can provide immense savings for you. Consider the possibility of point of presence. Lets say you have three offices scattered between Florida and New York. You can develop a point of presence in other states by creating virtual locations. When that employee picks up the phone in Los Angeles they are now representing your Los Angeles branch. There is no need to rent space, no need for extra utilities, or costly location issues. You have just made your office grow on a national level.

Perhaps you need something a bit more local but you don't want to invest in so much real estate. The same concept applies. Your sales staff can be completely remote and accessible. There is no need to worry about any of the stereotypes because the appropriate controls can be put into place. You will know if your workers are doing their job because they will have a regular phone extension, access to their e-mail, all applications, and paperwork. The beauty of the entire process is that it does not require a major financial investment. 3Connected can customize the virtual office to fit as an overall strategy within your IT environment.

As your Technical Partner we can create a fit that will work for you and your business, from merely wanting to be out of the office on Friday, creating a remote work force, to even virtualizing your entire environment. There are links to the left which give you a hint of an example of the tools available to implement the virtual office. Click here to arrange a consultation. You will be surprised how easy it truly is.
